Affiliated to International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) and Paralympic Committee of India\, (PCI)\, WBFI actively advocates and supports players’ grass root organization and coordinates with government and other stakeholders with the aim of developing a string contingent of wheelchair basketball players across States. \n  \nAbdi Jama Bio:\nIntroduced to wheelchair basketball at a school taster session by GB’s Ade Orogbemi\, Abdi Jama relished the fast-paced nature of the sport and has gone on to become one of the best 1.0 players in the world. \nStarting out with local Liverpool team Vikings\, Abdi has since travelled the world competing for clubs in Germany\, Italy\, Spain\, and Australia – earning the prestigious double with Italian club Briantea in 2016 with his third Italian Championship title and second Coppa Italia gold medal. \nA double U22 European Champion with the GB Junior Team\, Abdi won bronze at his Paralympic debut in Beijing (2008). In 2010\, Abdi then assisted the senior GB Team to 5th place at the World Championships before in 2011 he played a fundamental role in the team’s gold medal campaign at the 2011 European Championships. \nAbdi’s second Paralympic Games in 2012 saw him named co-captain of ParalympicsGB’s Wheelchair Basketball Team with Matt Byrne\, leading them to the bronze medal game where they narrowly lost to the USA. \nAbdi continued to build upon his international success\, captaining Great Britain to a consecutive European Championship gold medal (2013\, Germany) and earning a place in the All Star Team. In 2015 Abdi secured a third consecutive European title and another Championship All Star Team\, playing a crucial role in the team’s gold medal winning campaign and Rio 2016 qualification (where the team went on to win bronze). \nThe 2018\, Abdi was part of the GB Men’s team who made history by claiming the nations first World Championship title\, and the first to reach a semi-final game in 16 years. Making history on the Hamburg courts this August the GB men defeated the world’s leading wheelchair basketball nations; taking wins against Paralympic Silver medalists Spain and ultimately served the USA a final game defeat\, their first in four years.

DESCRIPTION:Announcing second round of free online technical workshops for visually impaired National Association for the Blind (NAB) Delhi had launched a series of online workshops for the visually impaired after the lockdown was announced in the country. An overwhelming response was received and they are due to successfully complete the first round soon. \n \nConsidering the demand from the community\, they will be conducting workshops on new topics from 13 April onwards. Sessions will be held in the afternoon or evening using the Zoom platform. DESCRIPTION:The XIX-National Para Swimming Championship will be conducted at Basavangudi Aquatic Centre\, Bengaluru\, Karnataka from March 28-30\, 2020. It is hosted by the Para Swimming Association of Karnataka in collaboration with the Para Sports Association of Karnataka\, under the auspices of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI). \n \nThe Eligibility:\nFollowing Indian Para Swimmers shall be eligible for taking part in the Championship: \n\nThe entry of the swimmer/s should have been received through the online entry system from the PCI affiliated Units before the last date and time.\nShould have paid the PCI License fee (Rs. 2000/-) for the year 2019.\nClassified with “New (N)”\, “Review (R)” or “Confirmed (C)” Sports Class Status.\n\nEntry\nEntries shall have to be made on-line by only the State/UT Para Sports Associations and Institutions affiliated to PCI. They should first conduct their State Championships or Selection Trails for selecting their swimmers/teams. Only good swimmers should be sent and no first-timer should directly participate in Nationals. A swimmer\, who is unable to swim and complete the distance himself/herself due to inefficiency\, shall be removed from his/her all remaining events. As per new WPS Rules\, swimmers should be able to swim all four strokes (minimum 50m) with good technique/stroke and should be able to float freely in both prone and supine positions. Swimmers not competing in the entered event/s or not completing the race will be levied a penalty of Rs. 500/- per such event\, to be paid before the next appearance of the swimmer. \nHow to Apply\nPlease note that all entries are to be made on-line on the portal: www.paraswim.org. Each State/UT Para Sports Association and Institution affiliated to PCI will be issued a secret Login ID and Password (through Email/ SMS/Whatsapp) with which it can register itself first and later make entries from 5th March to 15th March 2020 (11.59 pm). The portal will not accept entries before and after these dates and time and more than 60 entries from one State/UT.
