DESCRIPTION:Announcing second round of free online technical workshops for visually impaired National Association for the Blind (NAB) Delhi had launched a series of online workshops for the visually impaired after the lockdown was announced in the country. An overwhelming response was received and they are due to successfully complete the first round soon. \n \nConsidering the demand from the community\, they will be conducting workshops on new topics from 13 April onwards. Sessions will be held in the afternoon or evening using the Zoom platform. The workshops will be facilitated by selected trainers having vast experience of conducting trainings for the visually impaired. Each workshop will consist of one or more online sessions of 90 minutes to 2 hour duration where the participants will interact directly with the trainers. The information about joining the online sessions will be sent by email only. After registering you will receive the instructions to join the sessions by 16 April 2020 You just need a computer or smart phone with internet connection to join the online workshop. \nRegistration is restricted to one workshop per person at this time. \nNote: These workshops are only for persons with visual impairments above 18 years of age. SUMMARY:XIX National Para Swimming Championship 2019-20
DESCRIPTION:The XIX-National Para Swimming Championship will be conducted at Basavangudi Aquatic Centre\, Bengaluru\, Karnataka from March 28-30\, 2020. It is hosted by the Para Swimming Association of Karnataka in collaboration with the Para Sports Association of Karnataka\, under the auspices of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI). \n \nThe Eligibility:\nFollowing Indian Para Swimmers shall be eligible for taking part in the Championship: \n\nThe entry of the swimmer/s should have been received through the online entry system from the PCI affiliated Units before the last date and time.\nShould have paid the PCI License fee (Rs. 2000/-) for the year 2019.\nClassified with “New (N)”\, “Review (R)” or “Confirmed (C)” Sports Class Status.\n\nEntry\nEntries shall have to be made on-line by only the State/UT Para Sports Associations and Institutions affiliated to PCI. They should first conduct their State Championships or Selection Trails for selecting their swimmers/teams. Only good swimmers should be sent and no first-timer should directly participate in Nationals. A swimmer\, who is unable to swim and complete the distance himself/herself due to inefficiency\, shall be removed from his/her all remaining events. As per new WPS Rules\, swimmers should be able to swim all four strokes (minimum 50m) with good technique/stroke and should be able to float freely in both prone and supine positions. Swimmers not competing in the entered event/s or not completing the race will be levied a penalty of Rs. 500/- per such event\, to be paid before the next appearance of the swimmer. \nHow to Apply\nPlease note that all entries are to be made on-line on the portal: www.paraswim.org. Each State/UT Para Sports Association and Institution affiliated to PCI will be issued a secret Login ID and Password (through Email/ SMS/Whatsapp) with which it can register itself first and later make entries from 5th March to 15th March 2020 (11.59 pm). The portal will not accept entries before and after these dates and time and more than 60 entries from one State/UT. For making entries please follow these steps: \n\nGoogle search portal: www.paraswim.org (Home Page welcomes you- OnLine Data Entry).\nClick on Top Left “Login” button (Two dialog boxes will open\, enter your User ID and Password – as provided to you and click on “Login” given below. DESCRIPTION:Research and writing are integral to promote understanding of a field. Disability Rights have generated this interest in the recently emergent field of disability studies. \nThe interest is largely generic and people feel the need for advice to zero in on a particular topic of research. In order to assist persons interested in working in the field\, Centre for Disability Studies\, NALSAR University of Law and the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences\, BITS-Pilani Hyderabad Campus are planning to hold a Fostering Research in Disability winter school from 16th to 21st December 2019. \nThe week-long Winter School will engage with questions of disability with a special focus on boice\, representation and participation of disabled people in law- making and cultural processes. \nThe School will apprise participants of significant developments in the field of disabilitu studies as also point to issues topics and areas within the field which merit research. \nSome of the topics on which instruction shall be\, include:- \n\nDisability exclusions and inclusions: legally embedded and culturally enabled\nPersonhood related to disability – leagal concepts and cultural notions\nDiscourses of human rights and social justice\nDisability culture and disability in culture.\n\nThe Winnter School will also provide an opportunity to participants with draft research proposals to present and obtain feedback on the feasibility of their plans. \nAll persons interested in attending the school may write to winterschool@nalsar.ac.in \nby the 7th of June\, 2019 expressing their interest in the programme and why they wish to attend it. \nA few fellowships and fee waivers are available. Candidates in need of the same may write to us separately. \nKeeping in view the intensity of the exercise only 30 candidates will be admitted into the school. Preference will be accorded to persons with disabilities. Final list of selected candidates shall be announced by 30th June 2019.
