DDRS Scheme
The facilitate delivery of various services to persons with disabilities by voluntary organizations, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is administering DDRS scheme and providing grants-in-aid to NGOs for the projects.

The Ministry is presently implementing the ‘National Scholarship Scheme for Persons with Disabilities’ from the ‘National Fund for People with Disabilities’. However, for students with Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation, Multiple Disabilities, and Profound or Severe Hearing Impairment, the minimum education qualification is class-VIII pass and scholarships are awarded to them for pursuing general, technical, vocational or professional courses.
The Scheme of Scholarship is operated by union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment through State Governments to disabled persons from the 9th class
onwards for general technical or professional education. The scholarship is awarded all kinds of handicapped students subject to their obtaining of at least 40% marks at the last annual examination.
Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired, Mentally
Retarded and Locomotor Differently Abled
persons are provided with free special
education, Vocational Training to Mentally
Retarded, free boarding and lodging. Two sets
of Uniforms and Text books are given free of
cost every year.
